Many people are first introduced to Chiropractic when they have a crisis.  When you are treating a painful situation you frequently have to make several visits to first reduce the pain and inflammation, and then make structural changes.  Your body didn’t get this way overnight and it may take some time to return it to a pain free state.  Getting treatment only when your body is yelling at you is a reactive way to take care of yourself. How often do you think this pain will just “go away?” And just because your body is out of pain doesn’t indicate that your structure has changed enough to prevent you from a recurrence of pain in the short term.

How much better could it be if you were proactive about your health care? What if you were able to feel the stress and tightness in your body? What if you never waited for the stress and inflammation to build up until you felt pain?  In Chiropractic we call this state of being a state of dis-ease.  Lack of ease in the body is something that many clients begin to sense in their bodies. Its a feeling of knowing that something just isn’t right.  Something in your body is “off,” or “out of balance.”  At your appointment when I ask “so what do I need to know about your body?”, many people understand that I’m asking about dis-ease.

Many people come in thinking that their body is doing well because they are pain free only to become aware of the painful, tender, or dysfunctional areas when their spine is examined. This is the most ideal situation for preventing future pain and maintaining a nervous system free of interference or impingement.

What if each morning you took time to look for your postural imbalance in the mirror?  Is one shoulder or hip higher or lower?  Is your head slightly tilted?  Are you continually leaning to one side when sitting or standing?  What if  daily you kept an eye on your own imbalances, tight muscles, or lack of function and then did something about it?  You may never have to experience pain again. You may only have to schedule maintenance visits and prevent issues in your body.

What would it take to make yourself a priority and take care of yourself regularly?  What would it take to come in and get your spine checked regularly to prevent painful issues and have the body that would serve you best.
